Week 13 NFL Review Game by Game

This week saw many 30+ point games, given way to many, many opportunities for fantasy football value. From the continued solid play of Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, Marshawn Lynch and Ray Rice. Fantasy owners also saw a reemergence of Shonn Greene, Pierre Garcon and Christian Ponder. We'll cover these fantasy football players and more as we take a look back at Week 13 in the NFL season, in the 360 Sports Network's Week 13 NFL Week in Review.

Philadelphia Eagles (14) vs. Seattle Seahawks (31)

The week got started off on Thursday with a lackluster match-up between two team with poor records, but a lot of fantasy football potential at various positions. Vince Young had his third straight game, being at the majority of the game at the helm for the Eagles, and the third time was not the charm as his fantasy football values slowed up incredibly so, only yielding 9 to 10 fantasy points this week. LeSean McCoy really punched his totals and standing as top running back with 80+ yards on the ground and a touchdown, along with almost 50 yards in the air and another touchdown (22 fantasy football points this week). Riley Cooper was another mentionable, as he continues to be a solid fantasy option, grabbing 90+ yards on the night.

Marshawn Lynch for Seattle...'nough said! His best performance of the year, Lynch finishes the week with 148 yards and two touchdowns (26 fantasy football points). Anyone else on Seattle deserving a fantasy start? Look to possibly Golden Tate. This was his second week with a touchdown grab, so he should be on your radar.

Tennessee Titans (23) vs. Buffalo Bills (17)

This was such an underwhelming game on paper. Really, for fantasy football right now, compared to earlier this season, this shouldn't have been a dramatic one. However, because of the escalatingly effective play of Chris Johnson (22-153 yards, 2 touchdowns), Damian Williams (4-62 yards, 0 touchdowns) slowly supplanting Nate Washington (4 - 40 yards, no touchdowns) and C.J. Spiller (14 - 83 yards, 1 touchdown) finally playing like a starting running back, the game did have some fantasy football meaning. In it, we saw that Stevie Johnson (5 -52 yards, 1 touchdown) can find the end-zone. We also saw that C.J. Spiller is worth a starting spot; deep RB1, solid RB2 or FLEX1.

Also, fantasy football pick-up tip upcoming, Brad Smith (WR - Buffalo Bills) finished the game with 7 receptions off of 10 looks for 72 yards, 2 more looks and 2 more receptions that starter Stevie Johnson. If the trend continues, Brad Smith could be a decent WR3 or FLEX2 fill-in if needed.

Kansas City Chiefs (10) vs. Chicago Bears (3)

Dexter McCluster (9 rushes for 61 yards, 4 receptions for 46 yards and 1 touchdown) was the only game in town on Sunday. However, there are problems, fantasy football-wise, with him becoming a starter on your squad. Between McCluster, Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle, you never truly know who has the hot-hand. However, this does really show what McCluster is...a running back who will get you extra points in a PPR league. On the other side of the ball, Marion Barber looks to be the starter over the next few weeks with Matt Forte riding an injury for the next, at minimum, two weeks...is he worth a pick-up? I think so.

Oakland Raiders (14) vs. Miami Dolphins (34)

What a turnaround for Miami this week, eh? Matt Moore (13/25 162 yards with a touchdown, along with 5 rushes for 22 yards and a touchdown) breached the 18 point fantasy football mark for the third time this year, and Reggie Bush (22 - 100 yards and 1 touchdown) keeps playing solid. For Oakland, Carson Palmer (20/41 273 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception) couldn't seem to get it together, but did connect with T.J. Houshmandzadeh (1-40, 1 touchdown) and Darrius Heyward-Bey (3-23 yards, 1 touchdown) did find the end-zone. Chaz Schilens (6 receptions for 89 yards and no touchdowns) continued to see more and more looks from Palmer, as mentioned this week on the Pigskin Blink. He is a solid pickup, and with the injury bug plaguing the wide receivers of Oakland, Schilens will continue to be more of an entity in the wide receiver core.

Denver Broncos (35) vs. Minnesota Vikings (32)

Tim Tebow passed for 200+ and two touchdowns with no interceptions...yaaaaa. Demaryius Thomas (4 - 144yards and 2 touchdowns) was the target for Tebow on Sunday. Will this continue? If Tebow is forced into more of a passing role, Thomas's fantasy football value, along with Decker (2 - 25yards, 0 touchdowns), who underperformed in fantasy this week, might see higher numbers in the final weeks of the NFL season as the Broncos look to role into the playoffs. For Minnesota, Percy Harvin (8 - 156yards and 2 touchdowns), along with Toby Gerhart (21 - 91yards on the ground, 8 receptions on 8 looks for 42 yards) are the offense for Minnesota at this point.

Indianapolis Colts (24) vs. New England Patriots (31)

How can the NFL see a pro football team with the one of the worst passing defenses in the league also own one of the best passing offenses? Answer : The New England Patriots. Even Dan Orlovsky (30/37 for 353yards, 2 touchdowns and one interception) can "have a day" against the New England Patriots' defense. Donald Brown (14 for 41 yards and 1 touchdown), Austin Collie (7 receptions for 70 yards) and Reggie Wayne (5 receptions for 55 yards) had decent games, but none like Pierre Garcon who had 9 grabs for 150 yards and two big touchdowns.

For New England, I'm getting tired of saying this, but the fantasy football duo of Tom Brady (29/38 for 289 yards and two touchdowns) and Rob Gronkowski (5 grabs for 64 yards and two touchdowns, also a rushing touchdown) just keep getting it done for New England. Benjarvus Green-Ellis had an end-zone appearance, on only 6 carries for 14 yards. In the air, Wes Welker grabbed 11 receptions for 110 yards...solid day still.

Cincinnati Bengals (7) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (35)

With Pittsburgh squeaking out a win in these teams' last meeting, and Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall having decreased production, I honestly thought the only fantasy value besides Big Ben would be Antonio Brown and A.J. Green. Little did I know the Steelers came to play.

Big Ben finished the game with 19 fantasy football points with 176 yards in the air and two touchdowns. Mendenhall rushed for two touchdowns on 60 yards, add to that Mike Wallace's 2 touchdown performance and fantasy football owners are a little happier than over the last couple of weeks. On the other side of the ball, A.J. Green finished the game, as expected, with 6 grabs for 87 yards and the lone touchdown for the Bengals.

Carolina Panthers (38) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (19)

If New England has the Brady-Gronkowski show, it's all the Cam Newton Show in Carolina; and this Sunday, he didn't disappoint. Throwing 200+ with a touchdown might be a solid performance, adding in 50+ yards on the ground and a touchdown is fantastic...but he also caught the rock for 27 yards....yaaaaa....

Brandon LaFell (3 receptions for 64 yards) and Legedu Naanee (2 for 38 yards and a touchdown) are both deep fantasy football plays. To be blunt, Blount (11 carries for 19 yards) was sad...and inconsistent...and bluntly 'Blount'. In the air, Mike Williams (5 grabs for 90+ yards) keeps sticking in the solid category. As for Arrelious Benn (3 receptions for 40+ yards) and Kellen Winslow (4 for 41 yards), they have upside, but it's not a consistent type of upside for deepers and sleepers...but you should still keep an eye on them for late-season/playoff pickups if trends start to develop and you are in need of a wide receiver and/or tight end.

New York Jets (34) vs. Washington Redskins (19)

Running Backs were the plays of the week in this game. Shonn Greene (22 carries for 88 yards and 3 touchdowns, 3 receptions for 26 yards) was as solid as solid can be in this blow up kinda game. While, on the other side of the pigskin, Roy Helu (23 carries for 100 yards and touchdown, 4 of 6 in the air with 42 yards) was the only running back, and offensive game, in town for Washington. The Jets' wide receiving core just isn't consistent enough to be considered heavy plays in WR1 spots in normal 10-team leagues. Holmes was 4 for 8 looks, Burress went 3 for 6 and Keller, who had a solid game last week, caught 3 from 6 looks...those numbers aren't going to get fantasy football playoff wins as the season goes on. Depending on the week, and injuries, they can be fitted into WR3 or FLEX1(for deep leagues) and FLEX2 for normal 10-mans.

Atlanta Falcons (10) vs. Houston Texans (17)

Matt Ryan (20/46 for 267 yards, 1 touchdowns and two interceptions) needs to spread the love. Tony Gonzalez (7 receptions for 100 yards) and Julio Jones (4 for 68 yards) each were targeted 10 times. Roddy White (4 for 51 yards and a touchdowns) was targeted a whopping 15 times by Ryan. Harry Douglas (4 of 5 for 43 yards), a growing fantasy football sleeper, held an 80% reception rate this game...spread the love Ryan. T.J. Yates (12/25 for 188 yards and one touchdown) had a solid first start for Houston, but not worth a fantasy slot as of yet. Arian Foster (31 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown, 3 grabs in the air for 41 yards) was, and continues to be, a solid play. Andre Johnson also is officially back, grabbing the rock 4 times for 97 yards.

Baltimore Ravens (24) vs. Cleveland Browns (10)

Ray Rice (29 carries for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns, 10 yards receiving)...tough and solid. Ricky Williams (16 for 76 yards and a touchdown)...decent sleeper, deeper league pickup. Enough said.

Green Bay Packers (38) vs. New York Giants (35)

While this game was big for scoring, I'm going to cover it like a poor-scoring game. There is just too many players to cover...however, Green Bay Packers' running back core...where were you?

Dallas Cowboys (13) vs. Arizona Cardinals (19)

Chris "Beanie" Wells (20 for 67 yards and 1 touchdown) with Kevin Kolb (16/25 for 247 yards and a touchdown pass) looked to kick the Dallas Cowboys down a notch, and that's what happened Sunday. Sleeper alert : Andre Roberts has caught for at least 50 yards on at least 3 receptions four out of the last 5 weeks. With Sunday's 111 yards performance off of 6 receptions, I think it makes Roberts worth a look for deeper leagues (12+ teams, or running WR3 plus some flex spots). For Dallas, Tony Romo had a solid game in the losing effort, throwing for 299 yard and one touchdown. Dez Bryant (8 receptions from 14 targets, 86 yards and a touchdown) capped a trend (one touchdown in three of his last four games). However, there was no ground-game for Dallas, as Demarco Murray only grabbed 38 yards and Felix Jones only had 36 yards on 6 carries.

St. Louis Rams (0) vs. San Francisco 49ers (26)

Nothing positive for St. Louis as San Fran rolls them. Alex Smith (17/23 for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns) had a solid game this week, and it looks more and more like he needs to see some bench spots on teams, instead of sitting on the waiver wire. Michael Crabtree and Kyle Williams each had a touchdown. Of the duo, keep an eye on Kyle Williams...the last two of three games he had 50+ yards and a touchdown, of which, one of those weeks held an opponent he will see this week in Arizona. And Frank Gore (21 carries for 73 yards)...where were you?!?!?

Detroit Lions (17) vs. New Orleans Saints (31)

Where do we begin in this one? Maybe Drew Brees' (26/36 for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns without an interception) smile-inducing performance? How about the continued threat of running backs for New Orleans in Mark Ingram (16 for 54 and one touchdown) and Darren Sproles (4 for 28 yards on the ground and 5 receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown in the air)? How about Meachem (17 fantasy points) and Lance Moore (8 fantasy football points) each grabbing a touchdown? Maybe Matt Stafford's 400 yard performance (18 fantasy points)? Maurice Morris (12 carries for 28 yards and 5 receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown) and his increased role on the Lions offense? Maybe Burleson (9 fantasy points), Johnson (6 points) and Young (6 fantasy football points) less than optimal, but solid fantasy numbers this week? Oops...I guess not.

San Diego Chargers (38) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (14)

Last night showed why Jacksonville is in flux; why Gabbert (19/33 for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns) still should not picked up, why Maurice Jones-Drew (20 carries for 97 yards and in the air, 6 of 8 for 91 yards and a touchdown) is the most solid and well-rounded running back in the league for fantasy football, and why opposing offenses can and will score at a whim. For San Diego, hello Mr. Philip Rivers (22/28 for 294 yards and 3 touchdowns), where have you been??? Ryan Mathews (17 points) and Mike Tolbert (8 fantasy football points) each grabbed a score on the ground. In the air, Malcolm Floyd (16 fantasy points), Vincent Jackson (13 fantasy points) and Vincent Brown (8 fantasy football points) all found the end-zone.

That's it for 360 Sports Network's look at Week 13 in the NFL for fantasy football. Take it easy all!
