It's simple now in fantasy football at this point in the NFL season...is your fantasy football player hot? Are they in the middle of a fantasy football trend for your pro football team? Are injuries hurting your fantasy football playoff dreams? Let's delve into those NFL players who aren't in the glaring fantasy football eye and show pro football that they can hold their own.
Jake Locker
If he is healthy and starts this week in place of a ragged Matt Hasselbeck, you can bet he would be a welcome start on most fantasy football squads. Add in to the fact that he will be starting against AFC South rivals in the Indianapolis Colts and you've got a good fantasy football starter here. The trend isn't limited to this player...nooooo...it's an NFL trend, this quarterback rushing thing, and pro football should take notice. Fantasy football owners, he won't give you Matt Ryan nor Eli Manning stats this week, but if you are giving Tim Tebow a look or two, Locker deserves the same attention.
Felix Jones
Felix Jones was the biggest benefactor to Demarco Murray's early departure from the game Sunday night, and now for the season. As far as fantasy football goes, his next three NFL opponents are Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and then the Giants again...or, points galore for your fantasy football team. If you need the extra fire-power, or lost Demarco Murray for the season, Felix Jones proved Sunday he can and will be a good fill-in as you head through your fantasy football playoffs.
Damian Williams
In his place, I could've said Lance Moore, or Jabar Gaffney or even bring up Titus Young's potential for fantasy football points...but I won't. What I will say is that behind Locker, the passing game in Tennessee can actually move the ball. The last two games he pulled in 62 yards exactly. This week's opponent, Indy, will be given up yardage galore, and I think Williams will finally see an 8+ reception day with 100 yards.
Joel Dreessen
In Houston, fantasy football tight ends are limited to Owen Daniels and Owen Daniels. However, Dreessen has found the end-zone in the last three games. For leagues given a standard 6 points per TD, this is good news. To make things more positive, 6 of his 19 receptions this season have ended in a touchdown dance...fantasy football trend, maybe?
Tennessee Titans
The Seattle Seahawks are hot, the Arizona Cardinals are a match-up decision for most fantasy football owners...choosing Tennessee for this week's best defense for fantasy football is a little of both. They are trending for negative offenses (heavily injured, no quarterback or no running game). MJD is one thing...Donald Brown and the Colt's offensive line isn't him. Dan ain't the man, and if the receivers for the Colts cannot get the ball, well, they can't find the end-zone. So, in recap, Tennessee is my sleeper fantasy football option for the week.
I hope this helped you find some fantasy football diamonds in the rough to help you get a second win this fantasy playoff season, and one step closer to a fantasy football championship!
