Slowly, but surely, we are making our way towards the NFL Post-Season...which means it's about time to start playing our fantasy football post-season and playoff games. Let's look ahead to each position to give you a heads up on players available in most leagues, even deep ones.
Quarterback Sleeper
Christian Ponder
A career fantasy football day, throwing 380+ yards and three touchdowns isn't the key to his development and potential for your fantasy football team squad. It's the fact that over the last month, opposing quarterbacks have thrown for over 260 yards, one and a half touchdowns and an interception per game on the Detroit Lions. Adrian Peterson may or may not play for the Vikings, but Toby Gerhart is still in the backfield, and at receiver, Percy Harvin Still can put out WR1 type numbers.
Running Back Sleeper
Marion Barber
With Matt Forte done, not for the NFL season, but for the fantasy football season, Marion Barber became a solid option. Add in the fact that he can catch, and that the Broncos should be a good game for him, and he could be a solid play for one or more of the next few weeks. Be forewarned, however, that he could see split time with Kahlil Bell, who could develop before the end of the season.
Brandon Saine
I'm high on Brandon Saine in fantasy football for a big reason...Green Bay hasn't had a running back finish a whole season healthy lately. This means Starks isn't going to match up to 100%. Ryan Grant also can't seem to produce when he is in, and the Packers need more rushing yards. Saine, by the way, can catch as well as run, and with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, this could lead to some solid opportunities in even non-PPR fantasy football leagues.
Wide Receiver Sleepers
Chaz Schilens
The Oakland Raiders offense can offer opportunities deeper than the #1 and #2 wide receiver roles. Chaz had 6 receptions for 89 yards in the last game, and has Detroit and the Kansas City Chiefs coming up in the next couple of weeks. While the Packers are going to be tougher for Oakland, if Michael Bush has a bounce-back game, the pass could open up for Palmer and his receivers.
Harry Douglas
Matt Ryan has gotten tunnel vision, and fantasy owners are aware of it. Throwing 35 times, should yield a better completion rate than only 40%. However, to Douglas, Ryan has a 80% completion rate. He is being seen by Matt Ryan more, has surer hands and will see less and less man on man and tight play with Julio Jones and Roddy White both back and starting. That all said, he plays Carolina this week, which isn't so friendly, but then, he sees Jacksonville and New Orleans again, of which, he nabbed 133 yards in a Jones-less offense.
Golden Tate
Owned in less than 1% of public leagues, Golden Tate looks to continue his development as a solid pro football and fantasy football wide receiver. He has two touchdowns, in his last two weeks. And, with Sydney Rice now out on the IR, it's time for Golden to be truly golden.
Tight End Sleeper
Ed Dickson
Seeing Indianapolis this week, with having Ray Rice and his solid fantasy football games opens up the ability of the offense to dump to Tight Ends low to keep the ball moving, raises Ed Dickson's fantasy value off of the waiver wire. You're going to see this happen, as well, San Diego and Cleveland as well, as we play deeper into our fantasy football playoffs and we see the NFL playoffs upcoming.
Defensive Sleeper
Seattle Seahawks
They are playing the St. Louis Rams this week..on Monday Night Football...without Bradford...hell, even with, it's St. Louis!
That's it for more. Be sure to check out Fantasy Football Toolkit for daily updates, articles, news and reviews.
