Week 6 College Football Predictions

Every week we're breaking down the top 25 teams in college football and a couple of "at large" games.  I believe we picked them better than the College Game Day guys last week. Check out our picks, and who our upset specials are! Do you have an upset we should be watching out for? Let us know! You get a big upset right and we'll mention you on our next post and podcast!

17 Florida (4-1) at 1 LSU (5-0)
We might see two new starting QBs in this game. Jordan Jefferson is in his second week back after suspension, while Florida’s John Brantley is injured and possibly out for the year.
Dot's Pick:  LSU 38-7            Dellav's Pick:  LSU 34-14              Final: LSU 41-11

Vanderbilt (3-1) at 2 Alabama (5-0)
Vanderbilt is near the bottom in all offensive categories, and Alabama’s defense is almost certainly the best in the NCAA.
Dot's Pick:  Alabama 31-3            Dellav's Pick:  Alabama 27-10            Final:  Alabama 34-0

3 Oklahoma (4-0) at 11 Texas (4-0)
The Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl is always a great matchup, but when both teams are undefeated and at the top of the country, it’s a can’t miss game! Watch for some “trick plays” from the Longhorns (their coordinator comes from Boise) it might be enough to pull off the upset over the Sooners!
Dot's Pick:  Texas 20-17            Dellav's Pick:  Oklahoma 24-21            Final: Oklahoma 55-17

5 Boise State (4-0) at Fresno State (2-3)
Another day in the sun for Kellen Moore. They struggle away from the blue turf, though. Fresno puts up good points, but is it enough to make a run against the Broncos?
Dot's Pick:  Boise State 45-24            Dellav's Pick: Boise State 45-35              Final: Boise 57-7

Kansas (2-2) at 6 Oklahoma State (4-0)
With over 415 passing yards per game, the Cowboys offense is one of the best in the country, 6th best in terms of points scored. But can they outscore the Jayhawks’ potent ground attack?
Dot's Pick:  Okla. St. 38-14            Dellav's Pick:   Okla St. 30-10           Final: Okla. St. 70-28

Colorado (1-4) at 7 Stanford (4-0)
Andrew Luck will get three early touchdowns and don’t be surprised if we don’t see him or the rest of the Cardinal starters the rest of the game. No matchup here especially in Palo Alto.
Dot's Pick:  Stanford 52-6            Dellav's Pick:   Andrew Luck 45-7           Final: Stanford 48-7
Boston College (1-4) at 8 Clemson (5-0)
Statistically solid in all areas, and coming off of three straight victories vs. top 20 teams, I don’t see anything changing for the Tigers this week.
Dot's Pick:  Clemson 31-16            Dellav's Pick: Clemson 40-17               Final: Clemson 36-14
California (3-1) at 9 Oregon (3-1)

The Ducks have one incredible offense with LeMichael James. Cal is coming off of a tough loss last week to Washington.
Dot's Pick:  Oregon 37-18            Dellav's Pick: Oregon 41-24              Final: Oregon 43-15

15 Auburn (4-1) at 10 Arkansas (4-1)
Auburn is such a Dr. Jeckle/Mr. Heid team that I don’t know what to expect from them this week. I do know that Arkansas is averaging over 45 points per game when you take out their matchup at Alabama.
Dot's Pick:  Arkansas 28-20            Dellav's Pick:  Auburn 24-17             Final: Arkansas 38-14

12 Michigan (5-0) at Northwestern (2-2)
Denard Robinson is quietly (if that’s even possible) putting up Heisman type numbers for Michigan, and silently they’re ranked 12th in the country. But they need to go to Northwestern, who always plays well at home. Oh, and they have that guy named Dan Persa out there, who scored 4 TDs against a good Illinois defense last week.
Dot's Pick:  Northwestern 38-34            Dellav's Pick:     Michigan 33-30          Final: Mich 42-24

Maryland (2-2) at 13 Georgia Tech (4-0)
I love me some option football. Still top scoring offense (51.6 pts/game) in the country, and that’s as a RUN FIRST team. Forget this spread and air it out stuff! 378 yards/game on the ground? THAT’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL MY FRIENDS!
Dot's Pick:  Georgia Tech 41-21            Dellav's Pick:  Georgia Tech 28-7         Final: GT 21-16

Ohio State (3-2) at 14 Nebraska (4-1)
At the beginning of the year I had the Buckeyes pulling out the victory here, but the latest suspensions (and suspension extensions) as well as the terrible quarterback play may make it Taylor Martinez’s day. Bucky is full of surprises though!
Dot's Pick:  Nebraska 27-21            Dellav's Pick:    Nebraska 30-20           Final: Nebraska 34-27

Connecticut (2-3) at 16 West Virginia (4-1)
WVU likes to beat up on their lesser opponents. Connecticut has lost to Iowa State, Western Michigan, and Vanderbilt.
Dot's Pick:  West Virginia 48-17            Dellav's Pick:  Hoopies 55-7            Final: WVU 43-16

Kentucky (2-3) at 18 South Carolina (4-1)
The Old Ball Coach won’t be happy about their performance last week against Auburn at home. Kentucky is off to a rocky start, they’re struggling to put points up on the board.
Dot's Pick:  S. Carolina 28-3            Dellav's Pick:   SC 24-7       Final: SC 54-3

19 Illinois (5-0) at Indiana (1-4)
Another team surprisingly undefeated is the Illini. Lots of close games for them. Surprisingly only with one win is the Hoosiers, who also have had close games…
Dot's Pick:  Illinois 24-23            Dellav's Pick:      Illinois 30-17         Final: Illinois 41-20

Missouri (2-2) at 20 Kansas State (4-0)
K-State shocked Baylor last week (which Dotson called) and now they host Missouri. Will history repeat itself? Will K-State fall again after a big upset victory? Missouri put up a good fight against the Sooners last week.
Dot's Pick: Missouri 28-24            Dellav's Pick:    KSU 27-24        Final: K State 24-17

Miami (2-2) at 21 Virginia Tech (4-1)
The Hokies looked terrible at Lane Stadium last week. Miami looks better each week, but playing Bethune-Cookman is a lot different than going to Blacksburg.
Dot's Pick: Virginia Tech 17-6           Dellav's Pick:  Miami 21-10             Final: VT 38-35

22 Arizona State (4-1) at Utah (2-2)
Maybe it’s the west coast syndrome, but the Sun Devils seem unappreciated and unheard of this year. Utah is (0-2) in Pac-12 play, but those losses were to Washington and USC.
Dot's Pick: Utah 31-28            Dellav's Pick:    ASU 30-27           Final:  ASU 35-14

23 Florida State (2-2) at Wake Forest (3-1)
Wake Forest’s record is misleading, as their wins are against NC State, BC, and Gardner-Webb. The Seminoles are coming off of two tough, close losses to Oklahoma and Clemson. The ‘Noles and Decons are all about moving the ball through the air, expect a shootout.
Dot's Pick: Florida State 45-36            Dellav's Pick:   Florida State 30-28         Final: WF 35-30

24 Texas A&M (2-2) at Texas Tech (4-0)
Both teams love scoring points. Both teams don’t like each other. Both teams could use a quality victory. Both teams can’t win.
Dot's Pick: Texas Tech 44-42            Dellav's Pick:  Texas Tech 35-34              Final: A&M 45-40

Iowa State (3-1) at 25 Baylor (3-1)
Baylor’s 36-35 defeat last week will leave a bad taste in their mouths. Iowa State struggled last week, but won close games to begin the year. If it’s close, the Cyclones know what to do to get the W.
Dot's Pick: Baylor 38-14            Dellav's Pick:     Baylor 35-30          Final:   Baylor 49-26

OTHER NOTABLE GAMES:

Air Force (3-1) at Notre Dame (3-2)
We know the Irish can move the ball down the field. But can they put it in the end zone? Air Force controls the clock by running the ball (3rd in the country in rushing yards per game).
Dot's Pick: Notre Dame 24-17            Dellav's Pick:   Notre Dame 17-14            Final: ND 59-33

Pittsburgh (3-2) at Rutgers (3-1)
Pitt had a huge victory last week against South Florida and has had ten days to rest. That could be good or it could be too much time off. Rutgers doesn’t do anything on offense.
Dot's Pick:   Pitt 20-10            Dellav's Pick:    Pitt 27-24           Final: Rutgers 34-10

Iowa (3-1) at Penn State (4-1)
Neither team looks good. Penn State can’t do a thing on offense and is injury-stricken on defense. Iowa has done just enough to win their games (except against Iowa State).  They’re scoring points, but that’s against teams like Tennessee Tech and LA-Monroe.
Dot's Pick: Penn State 27-17            Dellav's Pick:    Penn State 20-17          Final: Penn State 13-3
