Fantasy Football - Week 13 Start/Sit/Sleeper

Time for your fantasy football start/sit/sleeper picks for week 13! This is likely your last week before the fantasy football playoffs, or maybe the first week of your playoffs! So let's get you that all important W! Be sure to send us your individual start/sit questions by commenting on this post, by emailing us, or by tweeting us @3SNetwork.

Quarterback:

Start ‘em
Sit ‘em
Sleeper Pick
Value Man:
Tony Romo (vs. PHI) – He’s putting up numbers on a consistent basis right now. Don’t expect that to change against Philly’s suspect pass defense.

Jay Cutler (vs. SEA) – He might squeak a TD this week since he’s at home, but against Seattle’s great secondary it’s no sure thing. Even if two are out with suspensions, I don’t trust Cutler and Marshall to connect too well.

Colin Kaepernick (at STL) – There won’t be a tie this time…Kaepernick led the 49ers back from 14 points down the first time these two teams played. He threw for over 100 and ran for 70 in limited time. With the start and on turf, watch for Kaepernick to take advantage of his starting role.

The Saint:
Matt Ryan (vs. NO) – A couple of tough weeks lately. Expect a huge bounce back game against the Saints. Don’t be afraid to start him. Stick with the horse that brung ya.

Philip Rivers (vs. CIN) – Can’t trust the turnovers, and Cincy boasts a top ten pass defense with only 13 TDs allowed in the air this year.

Colin Kaepernick (at STL) – He’s starting. Don’t forget about him, as he puts up great numbers in the air AND on the ground.

Mad Scientist:
Cam Newton (at KC) – Newton doesn’t put up huge passing yards, but scores TDs. KC doesn’t give up many passing yards, but gives up a plethora of TDs. Expect another big day for Cam coming off of his best game of the year.

Andrew Luck (at DET) – Luck seems to have the most trouble when he has pressure in his face, and that’s exactly what Suh and company bring.

Chad Henne (at BUF) – Two great weeks and now gets to face Buffalo’s swiss cheese defense!

Running Back:

Start ‘em
Sit ‘em
Sleeper Pick
Value Man:
Jacquizz Rodgers (vs. NO) – Against NO, Rodgers is a must play. Also, consider the fact that he had 10 carries for 50+ yards last week plus a few receptions and a TD, while Michael Turner over the past two weeks has had games resembling 12 carries for 18 yards. ‘Quizz will get more and more touches down the stretch, and I expect him to start by the end of the year.

Michael Turner (vs. NO) –He had a 1.1 yards/carry average against the Saints the first time they played. His only value comes in goal line carries, where he got a score last week luckily for owners. But like I said, Rodgers will be starting soon enough. Turner just isn’t getting it done.

Beanie Wells (at NYJ) – Comes off of injury and puts up 2 TDs. More impressively, Coach Wisenhunt gave him over 20 touches. He isn’t the greatest play this week, but you should have him for the playoffs no doubt.

The Saint:
Mikel Leshoure (vs. IND) – With Indy’s run defense in question, Leshoure figures to see many touches. He has a TD each of the last two weeks, averaging 70 yards per week.
Shonn Greene (vs. ARI) – Powell is eating up too many carries and Arizona has been too stingy on defense.

John Dwyer (at BAL) – I know that nobody wants to start ANY Pittsburgh RB right now…but Dwyer at least has the power capabilities against the Ravens tough defense. If you look to start any, it has to be Dwyer.

Mad Scientist:
Michael Turner (vs. NO) – Expect the yardage to increase against NO, and he’s an almost guaranteed TD each week.

Knowshon Moreno (vs. TB) – Say NO NO NO to Knowshon. Reliability issues for one, he didn’t put up huge numbers last week as a starter. Too much question here, especially when Peyton is expected to torch the Bucs through the air.
Rashad Jennings (at BUF) – It took being benched to have a huge game. Now he faces the league’s worst running defense.

Wide Receiver:

Start ‘em
Sit ‘em
Sleeper Pick
Value Man:
Dez Bryant (vs. PHI) – Back-to-back performances with over 120 yards and a TD. He’s  back to his former self and Tony Romo is looking his way every play. Start him the rest of the way!
Dwayne Bowe (vs. CAR)– No better with Brady Quinn instead of Matt Cassel. He can’t get into the endzone as teams shift coverage his way. Stay away from the rainbow.

Julian Edelman (at MIA) – Especially if you get special teams points, you MUST play him. Four touchdowns in the past two weeks in three different ways. He’s better than Wes Welker. Period.

The Saint:
Stevie Johnson (vs. JAC) –  Still wish he’d get into the end zone, but he’s consistently putting up yardage. Against Jacksonville, expect close to 100 yards and maybe that elusive TD.

Larry Fitzgerald (at NYJ) – 3rd string QB throwing him the ball…no thanks.

Cecil Shorts (at BUF) – He keeps putting up the big numbers. Over 100 yards and usually finding his way to the end zone. It’s not a sexy pickup, but he’s getting the points you need.

Mad Scientist:
Cecil Shorts, Justin Blackmon (at BUF) – With Henne at QB, Shorts and Blackmon have flourished. Don’t go away from them now, especially against Buffalo.

Brandon Lloyd (at MIA) – If Edelman is good to go, consider sitting Lloyd. Edelman just gets too many looks because he’s a great athlete. If Edelman is out, switch my “sit” WR to Mike Wallace because Batch can’t throw it deep..

Santana Moss (vs. NYG) – RGIII likes going Santana’s way, and with the multiple weapons right now in Washington, defenses cannot focus on the seasoned veteran.

Tight End:

Start ‘em
Sit ‘em
Sleeper Pick
Value Man:
Jermaine Gresham (at SD) – Consistency is his name. He’ll get you six points for 60 yards week in and week out. It’s just a matter of putting it in the end zone.
Brandon Pettigrew (vs. IND) – Fumbles at a key point in the game, and Stafford looks towards Tony Scheffler more than he does Pettigrew. There are better options.

Vernon Davis (at STL) – I refuse to believe that his 100+ yard performance two weeks ago was a fluke, even though he followed it up with a goose egg. On turf, it’s the Vernon Show. I hope.

The Saint:
Dallas Clark (vs. DEN) – He all of a sudden appears to be Josh Freeman’s favorite target, and Denver gives up the most points to opposing TEs.

Heath Miller (at BAL) – for the love of god…sit him.

Martellus Bennett (at WAS) – Up and down season, but against the worst pass defense in the NFL, expect an “up” week for Bennett.

Mad Scientist:
Mercedes Lewis (at BUF) – With all of the attention now being drawn on the WRs outside, expect Mercedes Lewis to control the underneath game against the Bills.

Brandon Myers (at CLE) – Cleveland is just too good at shutting down opposing TEs.

Ben Watson (vs. OAK) – Favorite target of Brandon Weeden’s, and even if Weeden doesn’t play, Colt McCoy loves the TEs as well. He’s a sure end zone recipient this week.
