Week 5 Fantasy Football Picks

We're back again to give you our fantasy football selections for week five! Watch out for bye weeks (Dallas, Oakland, Tampa Bay, and Detroit) although we were going to say to bench Tony Romo and Carson Palmer anyway!

Quarterback:

	Start ‘em	Sit ‘em	Sleeper Pick/ Waiver Wire
The Value Man:	Matt Ryan (at WAS)	Phillip Rivers (at NO) – Monday Night Football, the Saints in trouble, do you really think that defense won’t absolutely harass Rivers?	Andy Dalton (vs. MIA) – Don’t sleep on the Red Rifle, averaging over 275 yards and 2 TDs per game.
The Saint:	Mike Vick (at PIT) – Carson Palmer torched the Steelers secondary…do you really think Mike Vick won’t do the same?	Ryan Fitzpatrick (at SF) – too many interceptions, and he won’t get the garbage touchdowns against the 49ers.	Andrew Luck (vs. GB)
The Mad Scientist:	Ben Roethlisberger (vs. PHI) – 300+ yards and just under 3 TDs per game…Big Ben is an every day starter right now.	Russell Wilson (at CAR)	Kevin Kolb (at STL) – he’s an interesting play…if you’re desperate, go for it! He’s playing well right now.
The LostCause:	Christian Ponder (vs. TEN) – Don’t worry about last week’s less-than-fantasy-stellar performance… the Titan D will stuff A.P. and make it the Christian Ponder Show.	Mike Vick (at PIT) – Vick is playing too inconsistently, and if Harrison and Polamalu are back for the Steelers, then look elsewhere this week.	Andrew Luck (vs. GB)

Running Back:

	Start ‘em	Sit ‘em	Sleeper Pick/ Waiver Wire
The Value Man:	Frank Gore (vs. BUF) – Two NE running backs ran for over 100 yards last week. Frank Gore will get the bulk of the carries, and even if he doesn’t, he’s gold.	Stevan Ridley (vs. DEN) …Also consider benching Maurice Jones-Drew (vs. CHI), LeSean McCoy (at PIT), and Jamaal Charles (vs. BAL) if better options are there.	Jackie Battle (at NO)
The Saint:	Adrian Peterson (vs. TEN) – The Titans have a tough run defense, but even when teams stack the box, the Vikings show their desire to get Peterson his touches. Start him with confidence.	Chris Johnson (at MIN) – Detroit did nothing last week, and CJ2K is looking again to be CJ<1K.	Jackie Battle (at NO)
The Mad Scientist:	Frank Gore (vs. BUF)	San Diego RBs (at NO) – Yes, I’m mad. I’m sitting Battle and Mathews against the league’s worst rush defense because NO is desperate and because their split and depth chart controversy is not good for either player’s performance.	Cedric Benson (at IND) – People keep forgetting about him…he’s a starter! Grab him now!
The LostCause:	Marshawn Lynch (at CAR)	Buffalo RBs (at SF) – They struggled last week in New England, now they must go to San Francisco? No thanks.	Jackie Battle (at NO) – He’s listed as the starter and he’s playing the league’s worst run defense. Jackpot.

Wide Receiver:

	Start ‘em	Sit ‘em	Sleeper Pick/ Waiver Wire
The Value Man:	A.J. Green (vs. MIA) – quietly becoming the top WR in the game. Don’t even hesitate.	Stevie Johnson (at SF)	Andre Roberts (vs. STL) / James Jones (at IND) – Roberts is a must grab. Jennings for GB hasn’t scored more than 7 points per game, and Jones is a TD machine.
The Saint:	Brandon Marshall (at JAC) – He’s back and better than ever with Cutler.	Stevie Johnson (at SF) – at the 49ers…need we say more?	Brian Hartline (at CIN)
The Mad Scientist:	Randall Cobb (at IND) – Leading receiver last week, especially worthy of a start in PPR and return formats	Stevie Johnson (at SF)	Jerome Simpson (vs. TEN) – First game back from suspension and he leads the team in targets and yards. Watch for this trend to continue.
The LostCause:	Atlanta WRs (at WAS) – Watch for Julio Jones’s injury, but any starter needs to be in your lineup.	Stevie Johnson (at SF)	Kendall Wright (at MIN) – Especially if Kenny Britt is out, keep an eye on the rookie.

Tight End:

	Start ‘em	Sit ‘em	Sleeper Pick/ Waiver Wire
The Value Man:	Greg Olsen (vs. SEA) – Seattle will take out the Panther receivers, leaving Newton’s favorite target open in the middle.	Antonio Gates (at NO)	Heath Miller (vs. PHI) – you must pick him up, who knows if his success will continue, but you should be ready in case it does.
The Saint:	Rob Gronkowski (vs. DEN)	Heath Miller (vs. PHI) – Philadelphia performs well against TEs, don’t start Heath quite yet.	Tony Gonzalez (at WAS) – He leads all TEs in points right now…please don’t forget about him?
Mad Scientist:	Owen Daniels (at NYJ)	Jacob Tamme (at NE) – In fact, drop him. He doesn’t get into the endzone and doesn’t get enough catches to be fantasy relevant.	Dennis Pitta (at KC) – You could even start him this week. Don’t fear last week’s zero-catch performance.
The LostCause:	Kyle Rudolph (vs. TEN) – This week will be more of a balanced attack, Rudolph back with a big week after scoring less than one point vs. DET.	Martellus Bennett (vs. CLE)	Coby Fleener (vs. GB) – He consistently wracks up the points. Nothing spectacular, but solid week in and week out.
