Monday Morning Quarterback - Week 6

Another week of fantasy football is in the books, and we have lots to assess. We gave you our week's picks on Thursday, and for the most part we were alright. Nobody picked a huge stud, mainly picks were on the "good not great" status. We did have a couple picks where we were just plain wrong, however. It happens, we assess, and look to do better each and every week.

And with that, here's our week 6 analysis.

Sleeper Christian Ponder (21.3 points) – We all were pretty high on Ponder this week going to Washington. If you played him while someone like Drew Brees was on bye, you were rewarded nicely. He ended with 352 yards, 2 tds, 2 ints. One of those INTs came in the last minute in the endzone…he could have had 29 points instead of just 21…but we won’t complain.

Sit NE RBs – The Value Man warned you…. Stevan Ridley (3.4 points), Danny Woodhead (7.1 points), and Brandon Bolden (2.8 points) were not to be trusted, especially not in Seattle.

Start Darren McFadden (13.8 points) – 13.8 points against Atlanta might finally be enough to get McFadden out of everybody’s doghouse…even though he did lose a fumble. The Value Man said to stay loyal to run-DMC and hopefully you did! 98 total yards and a TD, look for these kind of numbers moving forward.

Start Wes Welker (19.8 points) – Welker continued his hot streak with 10 catches for 138 yards. Oh, and he got into the end zone again. Stick with Welker, especially PPR leagues, and thank The Saint for doing so.

Sleeper Jermaine Gresham (12.8 points) – He broke a 55 yard catch for a TD, but only had 2 more receptions for 13 yards the rest of the game. That’s a bit scary moving forward, but he was playing a team that matches up well against TEs. He’s likely to be a solid contributor moving forward. Nice pick, Mr. Mad Scientist.

Start Stevan Ridley (3.4 points) – good work Mad Scientist. 34 rushing yards.

Start Rashard Mendenhall (1.7 points) – The Saint was confident that Mendenhall would get his touches. TheLostCause talked of the Titans and their terrible rush defense. The Value Man kept saying to be careful, and look what happened. Redman ends with over 100 receiving yards, Mendenhall ends up with 1.0 yards per carry, and both end up hurt. It’s best to stay away from PIT RBs for a while until we see who is healthy and can get consistent and positive touches.

Sit Chris Johnson (11.4 points) – rough week for the Mad Scientist. CJ2K put up 114 total yards. Any double-digit scoring week is a great one in our books. They have the Bills next week, he’s a must start.

Sleeper RB picks – Nobody really had a huge week. William Powell (7.8 points) had the top day with 78 total yards. LaRod Stephens-Howling (2.2 points) had just 22 yards, Vick Ballard (4.2 points) with 42, and Alex Green (7.3 points) with 73. Nobody busted out and nobody got into the endzone. And you know, we won’t count TheLostCause with his third sleeper of LeGarrette Blount (11.8 points) either…just because!

Sit Jordy Nelson (30.1 points) – The Value Man says sorry. That was surely not a "valuable" pick. If you benched him, we sure hope your backups did well, because you left 3 TDs on the bench. The Packers offense finally looked in sync and Nelson actually was being used for once. They did get help from the Texans extending at least three drives from penalties, but that doesn’t diminish what Nelson did. Feel free to start him like normal from here on out.

Sit Dez Bryant (21.5 points) – 2 TDs…He drops a lot of passes but he put up over 100 yards and 2 TDs. Even if he tips the ball to an opponent, he doesn’t lose fantasy numbers for that. Start Dez Bryant, don’t listen to the Mad Scientist on the Cowboys players anymore!
