2013 Colonial Tournament Preview
The Colonial Athletic Association Tournament is going to
look very different this year compared to previous championships. Many teams
we’ve become familiar with seeing in this tournament will not be competing in
Richmond for a chance at the automatic bid for the conference. Defending champion
Virginia Commonwealth has moved to the Atlantic 10 conference, Old Dominion and Georgia State are both
ineligible for the tournament because of their departures from the conference
next season, UNC Wilmington and Towson are the latest victims of APR
issues, thus being banned from postseason play by the NCAA. So, that
leaves only seven teams playing for the conference title instead of 11 or 12
like normal. Is another George Mason special coming? How about Northeastern or the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens?
